When installing a new toner cartridge, we may encounter various problems. Below are some of the problems you may encounter when using a new toner cartridge:

1) Unable to install or difficult to install:

  1. Confirm whether the toner cartridge model is correct.
  2. Confirm whether the toner cartridge direction is correct during installation.

2) Noise and abnormal sound during printing:
If there is an abnormal sound after the toner cartridge is installed, the toner cartridge may not be installed properly. You can pull it out and install it again. If there is still an abnormal sound, it may be a problem with the toner cartridge drive gear.

3) Not recognized:

  1. It may be that the chip contacts of the machine are deformed. It is recommended to check the chip contacts of the machine.
  2. If there is no problem with the chip contacts of the machine, but the chip still does not recognize, the installed chip version may be incorrect. Confirm whether it corresponds to the version of the machine used and replace the corresponding version of the chip.

4) The capacity of the newly purchased toner cartridge does not reach 100% after installation:

  1. It may be a chip problem.
  2. It may be that you did not shake the toner cartridge evenly before installation, and the toner was not discharged smoothly, causing the chip capacity to drop rapidly. Before installing the toner, you need to shake the toner cartridge left and right 6-10 times to evenly distribute the toner.

5) Bottom ash problem:

  1. It is related to environmental factors. Bottom ash may be generated in low temperature and low humidity environment. Working environment requirements: in winter, it is lower than 10℃ and 15% humidity is prone to problems. It is recommended to be higher than this environment.
  2. Toner compatibility problem. The powder in the toner cartridge is incompatible with the toner in the machine’s developer cartridge, resulting in bottom ash. It will be eliminated after printing about 1500 pages (the original toner of the machine is exhausted). If the bottom ash is always there, replace the cartridge.

6) Light color problem:

  1. The light color of the first page after installing a new toner cartridge is a problem of the original toner in the machine’s developer cartridge. It has nothing to do with the newly installed toner cartridge, because the toner in the developer cartridge inside the machine can still print about 1000 pages. After printing about 500-1000 pages, the powder in the newly installed toner cartridge begins to enter the machine and work, which can solve the problem.
  2. The problem of light color printing in the later stage may be that developer is missing. You can refill developer or replace developer unit.
  3. The problem of light color printing may also be a toner problem.

7) Insufficient page yield:
First check whether the documents printed have more pictures and high coverage text, because the product page yield is calculated based on the ideal state of 5% coverage of A4 paper (5% of the surface of a piece of paper is covered with text). Pictures and high coverage documents exceed 5% coverage, and the toner used is several times more. It is normal that the standard page yield cannot be achieved.

What is 5% coverage of A4 paper?

The 5% coverage is a standard jointly formulated by ISO (International Organization for Standardization)/IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). It means that after A4 paper is printed, the area covered by toner or ink is 5% (black) and 15% (color, that is, red, yellow, and blue, each color reaches 5% coverage). The 5% coverage is basically only for printing ordinary text documents, not picture documents. Because printing documents with pictures will basically exceed 5% coverage, and the number of printed pages will also be relatively reduced.
