HP LaserJet M436 display error code A1-5513

HP LaserJet M433a, M436n, M436nda, M437, M439 and other models display error code A1-5513: Troubleshooting

Machine Fault Symptom: HP M436 machine displays error code A1-5513 upon startup, indicating a toner supply motor malfunction.

Cause of Fault: The machine has not detected toner supply in the developer unit for a period of time.

Solution:
(Focus on checking the first 5 items)

1. Check if the toner cartridge outlet seal has been completely removed.

2. Check if the toner in the cartridge is clumped. If so, shake the cartridge before use.

3. Check if the toner cartridge drive gear rotates normally and dispenses toner correctly. If not, replace the toner cartridge. (See diagram below):

4. Check if the toner dispensing pipe is blocked.

5. Check if the developer unit toner inlet is blocked.

6. Enter service mode to test if the toner supply motor is operating normally — (Diagnostics > Engine Diagnostics > Engine Test Routines > 111–0030); if the motor does not rotate normally, measure the 24V output of the low-voltage power board.

7. Check if the voltage is normal. If there is no 24V output, replace the low-voltage power supply board. If the voltage output is normal, replace the powder supply motor for testing.

8. If the powder supply motor rotates normally, replace the main board for testing.

9. If replacing the main board does not solve the problem, replace the drum unit.
