In this article, you can learn how to identify the quality of printer toner, and what does high quality toner powder look like.
What does high quality printer toner look like?:
- Poor quality printer toner powder will clump if stored for a long time in a humid and temperature-changing environment. It will damage the developer unit during use, thus affecting the image quality and even shortening the service life of the developer system.
- The copier melts the toner powder through the fixing roller, and then fixes the toner on the paper through the pressure between the upper and lower shafts. Different copiers have different heating temperatures for the fixing roller. Toner powder with a wide melting point range works well with the fixing rollers of different copiers and achieves good printing quality on different copiers.
- The printing quality of toner powder with a narrow melting point range is unstable. When the toner melting point is higher than the heating temperature of the fixing roller, the toner is not completely melted and cannot completely penetrate into the paper fiber, resulting in unstable image fixing. When the toner melting point is lower than the heating temperature of the fixing roller, the toner softens excessively and sticks to the fixing roller, contaminating the fixing roller and easily dirtying the printing paper.
How to check the quality of printer toner? You can use the following 10 methods:
- Odor: odorless or slightly fragrant
- Appearance: High quality toner powder has no impurities and no agglomerates
- Fluidity: The fluidity of high-quality toner is very good
- Compatibility: refers to the compatibility between different toner powder. If the compatibility of toner is poor, it will produce bottom ash or ghosting.
- Toner consumption: The weight of toner powder consumed for each printed sheet of paper; under the same number of printed pages, good toner powder consumes less toner.
- Fixation: Check the fineness of the image and text on the print
You can touch the surface of the printed paper with your hand to feel its roughness. Generally speaking, the surface of the printed paper by toner with poor fixation will be very rough. - Stability: From the beginning to the end of printing, it is stable and has no abnormalities
- Bottom ash: Check the blackness value of the blank space without words in the printed paper
- Fixing firmness: The ability of the toner powder attached to the surface of the paper to penetrate into the paper fiber after melting
- Waste toner rate: The waste toner rate refers to the proportion of waste toner generated by a certain amount of toner in normal printing. Good toner has a lower waste powder rate.
In general, professional tools are needed to test the quality of toner powder. The above methods are a summary of KBT technicians’ experience. In the absence of professional testing tools, the above method can be used to judge the quality of toner.
