Don’t worry about blank pages scanning with your Ricoh copier; easily delete them right from the machine.
In daily office work, when scanning documents with a Ricoh copier, if the originals contain both single-sided and double-sided documents, selecting duplex scanning mode often results in blank pages for single-sided documents. Having to delete these blank pages one by one on your computer is a tedious task. However, Ricoh IMC series copiers have a useful feature that solves this problem directly on the machine, making scanning more efficient.
1. Preparing for Operation
First, clarify your scanning needs. If you need to scan a mix of single-sided and double-sided documents and plan to use duplex scanning, enable the machine’s blank page delete feature. Also, prepare an SD card or USB drive to store the scanned documents and insert it into the corresponding port on the copier.
2. Specific Operation Steps
Enter the Scan function interface: Click the built-in scan function on the copier. Select the scan path based on your needs, whether to save to a folder, send via email, or, as in this example, to a storage device such as an SD card or USB drive. If you select a storage device, find the “Print/Scan (Storage Device)” function and enter it.
Set basic parameters: In the scan settings interface, set the colorimetry parameters (such as black and white, grayscale, or color) and enable the duplex function to ensure the machine operates in duplex scanning mode.
Enable the Blank Page Delete function: After completing the basic parameter settings, scroll down in the settings interface to find the “Blank Page Delete” option and click to enable it.
Preview the scan: After selecting the Blank Page Delete function, click Preview. Place both single-sided and double-sided documents in the copier’s document feeder and start scanning. After the scan is complete, use the Preview function to view the scan results. If the “Blank Page” text does not appear on the preview page, blank pages have been successfully filtered out.
Saving the Scanned File: After confirming the preview is as expected, click the Save button. Once the file is saved, remove the SD card or USB drive from the copier.
3. Verifying Operational Results
Connect the removed SD card or USB drive to your computer and view the saved scanned file. You’ll notice that any blank pages that might have appeared have been automatically deleted, eliminating the need to manually delete them on your computer. This eliminates the need to scan single-sided and double-sided documents separately, even if they are mixed together. This significantly saves time and effort.
Summary:
The blank page deletion function on Ricoh IMC series copiers easily solves the problem of blank pages appearing when scanning single-sided documents from double-sided scans, streamlining the scanning process and improving office efficiency.
