Entering winter, the temperature drops sharply. As the temperature drops, various printing equipment also have frequent problems, seriously affecting work efficiency.

Summarised, the main several problems:

  1. Machine can not start normally
  2. Printer paper jams
  3. Laser printing is difficult to fuser, and the words fall off with a single wipe
  4. Inkjet printer ink splashes and line breakage

The above problems are mainly caused by the weather being too cold and too dry. KBT will teach you a few tips to help you deal with winter machine failures.

1) Machine cannot start normally

Generally speaking, the working environment temperature of the printing equipment should be kept between 10-35℃, and the minimum should not be lower than 15℃. Too low temperature can easily lead to prolonged charging and discharging time of components in the printer switching power supply, so that it can not be started normally.

Solution:

  1. If conditions permit, turn on the heating in the room where the printing equipment is placed.
  2. In a cold environment, do not turn on the power directly. Let the machine wait for a while in a warm environment. After the internal temperature of the machine rises, turn on the power and use it. Turn on the machine and preheat it for 10-15 minutes before printing.

2) Printer paper jam

Due to the low ambient temperature, after being left overnight, the paper pickup roller, pressure roller and other plastic parts inside the machine expand and contract due to heat, resulting in a sharp drop in the friction coefficient. The resistance of the transmission system in other parts increases. At the same time, due to the low air humidity, the paper is too dry and generates a lot of static electricity, which will cause multiple sheets to be fed. The superposition of various factors seriously affects the smooth feeding of paper.

Solution:

  1. Turn on the machine and preheat it in advance to ensure the normal working environment temperature.
  2. Put new paper in the paper box of the machine, or take out the top few sheets. Before normal printing, copy a few sheets of white paper with a low-speed machine and dozens of sheets of white paper with a high-speed machine. Be careful not to use waste paper.

3) Poor printing results

Laser printing is difficult to fix because the temperature is low in winter, and the heating component of the laser printer cannot reach the required temperature, resulting in poor fixing. The dry environment in winter and the increase of static electricity on the paper will also affect the adsorption of toner particles, directly affecting the printing effect.

Inkjet printing is prone to line breakage and ink ink splashes because the temperature is lowered and the ink viscosity increases, resulting in poor ink fluidity, poor ink supply, and line breakage and other abnormalities. In addition, strong static electricity in winter can easily cause the ink dots to deviate during inkjet printing, resulting in ink splashes.

Solution:

  1. Pay attention to the placement environment of the printing equipment and printing consumables, and maintain appropriate temperature and humidity.
  2. The weather is dry and dusty in winter, so regularly maintain and clean the machine.
  3. Purchase high-quality toner cartridges, inks and paper to reduce the impact caused by poor performance of printing consumables.
