1. What is the pickup roller?

The pickup roller is the wheel that the printer uses to pull the paper away from the paper storage tray. It is generally composed of two parts. The middle part is a relatively hard plastic component. Its function is to carry the rubber wheel for paper pickup and install the pickup roller assembly on the drive rod for driving the pickup roller. The other part is the rubber wheel that directly contacts the paper. It must have a certain friction, so its surface is relatively rough, and some are even serrated.

There are generally two shapes of paper pickup rollers. One is round, which is the shape of most of them, and some are semicircular. Its colors are varied and its sizes are also different.

The pickup roller is a consumable part. Normal use of high-quality printing media will also cause the pickup roller to wear. If you use low-quality printing media may require frequent replacement of the pickup roller.

If your printer often has paper pickup errors (no paper feeding or paper jams), it indicates that the pickup roller may need to be replaced or cleaned.

Replacing the pickup roller is also a protection for the paper feed motor and paper feed belt, which can extend the overall life of the machine.

2. How to replace the pickup roller? Steps:

1) Prepare a new pickup roller. At the same time, prepare the necessary tools, such as screwdrivers and pliers.

2) Turn off the power of the printer, open the printer cover, and find the location of the pickup roller. It is usually inside the printer, near the paper inlet. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws that fix the pickup roller.

3) Carefully remove the old pickup roller, taking care not to damage the parts inside the printer. Install the new pickup roller to the original position and secure it with screws.

4) After installation, close the printer cover and perform a test print.

3. How to clean the pickup roller? Steps are as follows:

1) Turn off the power of the printer and remove the pickup roller.

2) After removing it, wipe it with alcohol cotton, turn the place that cannot be wiped, and then wipe it again. When putting it back, align the notch with the slot and install it.

The location of the pickup roller of each printer is different. Before replacing the pickup roller, first find a disassembly diagram on the Internet or find the corresponding maintenance manual.
