The new toner cartridge prints with black edges
After replacing a new toner cartridge, the copier still has black edges on the copied documents. Why is my printer printing black outlines? The following are possible reasons and solutions:
- 1. Toner cartridge installation problem
1) Improper installation: The new toner cartridge may not be installed correctly in the copier, resulting in poor contact between the toner cartridge and other parts, uneven distribution of toner, and black edges. The solution is to open the toner cartridge compartment of the copier and reinstall the toner cartridge to ensure that the toner cartridge is installed firmly and in the correct position, and fits tightly with the various parts of the copier.
2) The protective device is not removed: Some new toner cartridges will have some protective devices in the packaging, such as seals, protective covers, etc. If these protective devices are not completely removed during installation, it will affect the normal operation of the toner cartridge and produce black edges. You need to carefully check the toner cartridge to ensure that all protective devices have been properly removed.
- 2. The scanning part has stains
1) The glass table is dirty: There is dust, stains or other foreign matter on the scanning glass table of the copier, which will form a shadow when scanning the document, resulting in black edges on the copied document. Even if a new toner cartridge is replaced, this problem will still exist. The solution is to wipe the scanning glass table with a clean, soft, damp cloth to ensure that its surface is clean and free of stains before performing a copy test.
2) Aging or dirty scanning lamp: If the scanning lamp is aged or has dust on the surface, the scanning light will be uneven, which will cause black edges to appear on the copied documents. You can try to clean the scanning lamp. If the scanning lamp is seriously aged, you need to contact a professional to replace it.
- 3. Toner problem
1) Poor toner quality: The toner in the new toner cartridge may be of poor quality, such as uneven particles and poor fluidity, which will cause uneven distribution of toner in the cartridge, resulting in black edges when copying. We recommend to replace toner or toner cartridges with reliable quality.
2) Damp toner: If the toner is damp during storage, it will also affect the copy quality and cause black edges. Make sure the toner is stored in a dry environment, and damp toner should be replaced in time.
- 4. Failure of other parts of the copier
1) Developer failure: The developer is responsible for transferring toner from the drum to the paper. If the developer fails, such as developer roller wear, internal circuit problems, etc., even if a new drum is replaced, black edges may appear. In this case, a professional is required to inspect or replace the developer.
2) Fuser unit problem: The function of the fuser unit is to firmly fix the toner on the paper. If the fuser unit has problems such as uneven heating and damage to the fuser roller surface, the toner may be offset or unevenly distributed during the fixing process, resulting in black edges. Professionals are required to inspect and repair the fuser unit.
