KBT technicians have compiled a list of Canon inkjet printer error codes and troubleshooting methods for your reference:

Error Code: E02

Cause: No Paper

Solution:
1. Paper tray empty;
2. Damaged paper feed rollers;
3. Damaged sensor

Error Code: E03

Cause: Paper Jam

Solution:
1. Check paper feed rollers;
2. Damaged sensor

Error Code: E04

Cause: No Ink Cartridge

Solution:
1. Reinstall ink cartridge;
2. Foreign objects or dirt on ink cartridge contacts;
3. Replace ink cartridge;
4. Deformed or damaged carriage unit contacts, replace carriage unit.

Error Code: E05

Cause: Ink Cartridge Not Supported

Solutions:
1. Reinstall the ink cartridge;
2. Ink cartridge contacts are contaminated or dirty;
3. Replace the ink cartridge;
4. The carriage unit contact parts are deformed or damaged; replace the carriage unit;
5. Replace the main PCB assembly.

Error Code: E07

Cause: Ink Cartridge in Incorrect Position

Solutions:
1. Replace the ink cartridge;
2. Replace the main PCB assembly.

Error Code: E08

Cause: Waste Ink Pad is Almost Full

Solutions:
Replace the waste ink pad and reset its counter value (partial replacement: 30%, full replacement: 0%). Resetting the error will allow printing to continue without replacing the waste ink pad. However, when the waste ink pad is full, it will trigger the replacement of the corresponding waste ink pad; otherwise, printing will not be possible. Replace part of the waste ink pad or the entire waste ink pad kit.

Error Code: E09

Cause: Packaging material not removed

Solution: Remove foreign objects from the carriage stop.

Error Code: E11

Cause: Incorrect IVC print settings

Solution: The paper in the printer does not support duplex printing; reload the paper.

Error Code: E14

Cause: Cannot recognize an ink cartridge

Solution:
1. Reinstall the ink cartridge;
2. Foreign objects or dirt on the ink cartridge contacts;
3. Replace the ink cartridge.

Error Code: E15

Cause: Ink cartridge hardware error

Solution:
1. Reinstall the ink cartridge;
2. Foreign objects or dirt on the ink cartridge contacts;
3. Replace the ink cartridge;
4. Replace the main PCB assembly.

Error Code: E23

Cause: IP address and subnet mask conflict

Solution: Reset the network.

Error Code: E31

Cause: Wireless LAN setup failed

Solution:
Press the printer’s black and white or color button to clear the error and reset the network connection;
If performing WPS setup:
1. Check the security settings, then repeat the setup.
2. Use other setup methods to perform the setup.

Error Code: E32

Cause: Unable to find wireless network during setup

Solution:
Press the printer’s black and white or color button to clear the error, reset the network connection, and re-perform the wireless LAN setup.

Error Code: E33

Cause: Multiple wireless routers are connecting to the printer, therefore a connection cannot be established.

Solution:
Press the printer’s black and white or color button to clear the error, wait a moment (approximately 2 minutes), and then perform the wireless LAN setup again.

Error Code: E37

Cause: Wireless LAN setup failed

Solution:
Press the printer’s black and white or color button to clear the error.
1. Turn off the wireless router and then turn it back on.
2. Reconnect the printer to the wireless router.

Error Code: E38

Cause: Unable to connect to the wireless router. Unable to change LAN settings

Solution:
Press the printer’s black and white or color button to clear the error.
Please check the following:
1. Is the printer’s wireless LAN enabled?
2. Is the appropriate wireless router selected for connection?
3. Is the entered password correct?
4. Is the specified SSID correct?
4. After checking the above, turn off the wireless router and then turn it back on.

Error Code: E45

Cause of Fault: Unable to connect to the network

Solution:
Press the printer’s OK button to resolve the error. Check the LAN connection and network settings. The connection may succeed after a short wait.

Error Code: P02

Cause of Fault: Carriage position incorrect

Solution:
1. Foreign object inside the printer > Remove foreign object.
2. Ink cartridge bulging—Install the ink cartridge in place.
3. Ink cartridge holder bulging—Completely close the ink cartridge.
4. Connecting rod bulging—Push the connecting rod all the way down.
5. Raster bar contamination—Clean the raster bar.
6. Disconnected or misaligned wires: Carriage FFC, carriage motor harness; ensure correct wire connections.
7. Scratched or severely contaminated raster strip – replace the raster strip. If the error persists, replace the following components: Carriage unit, carriage motor unit, main PCB assembly.

Error Code: P03

Cause: Incorrect LF position, abnormal paper feed motor rotation

Solution:
1. Foreign objects inside the printer – remove foreign objects.
2. Disconnected or misaligned wires: Paper feed motor harness
3. Paper feed encoder FFC – ensure correct wire connections; bent or damaged paper feed encoder FFC.
4. Scratched or contaminated paper feed raster disk – replace the raster disk.
5. Damaged gears in the following component: Paper feed roller unit – replace the corresponding unit. If the error persists, replace the following part: Main PCB assembly

Error Code: P07

Cause: Waste ink pad full

Solution: Replace the waste ink pad

Error Code: P08

Cause: Printhead overheating

Solution:
1. Printing is still performed even though the ink is depleted. Refill the ink cartridge.
2. The ink cartridge is faulty (contacts, TAB wires, or burnt-out areas around the nozzles, etc.). Replace the ink cartridge.
3. The stylus of the carriage unit is bent or damaged. Replace the carriage unit. If the error persists, replace the following part: Main PCB assembly

Error Code: P09

Cause: Thermistor malfunction

Solution: If the error reappears after disconnecting the printer power, wait 5 minutes and then reconnect the power. Replace the main PCB assembly.

Error Code: P10

Cause: VH monitor error

Solution:
1. The carriage FFC is disconnected or connected at an angle. Correctly connect the carriage FFC.
2. The error reappeared after removing the ink cartridge. Disconnect the printer power and then reconnect it. Replace the main PCB assembly.
3. The error reappeared after reinstalling the ink cartridge. Replace the ink cartridge.

Error Code: P22

Cause of Fault: ASF Cam Sensor – Paper Feed Assembly. The sensor detected a reset abnormality.

Solution:
The error reappeared after turning the printer power off and then back on. Replace the automatic paper feeder unit, the main PCB assembly, or the paper feeder sensor PCB assembly.
